Afternoons spent lazing in the sun, BBQs on the deck, kids in the pool, it’s a magic time of year. And now that the hibernation months are well and truly behind us, we want to offer you a little spring inspiration to welcome the warmth and spruce the home.
It’s a season of change. The perfect opportunity to experiment with colour and patterns and bring a little zest and life back into your home.
Most of us turn to dark colours and heavy fabrics during winter; anything to keep warm. We use thick curtains and draped blankets to create a cosy atmosphere byt Spring is the time to pack it all away. We recommend opting for sheer curtains or light cotton fabrics to make the most of natural light and fresh air. Choose a few statement pieces in bright colours or bold textures. Think cushions for your lounge, a new quilt cover or fun piece of artwork.
Out with the old and in with the new. We're are all a little guilty of holding on to too much junk at times. Use this time of year to rid your home of unwanted/dated furniture pieces, old clothes, broken toys and anything else taking up valuable space in your home. Start repairing items that have been on your maintenance ‘to do list’ for too long. A good spring clean helps re-energise your home.
Spring and flowers come hand in hand. There are so many ways to incorporate them into your home. Use quirky vases, mason jars or little vintage pieces that bring interest and style and try contrasting colours like pink and aqua, purple and yellow. Not only will they look great, but your home will be smelling wonderful in no time.
By deliberately positioning your furniture in certain ways, you can maximise functionality and space within your home. Remove large storage furniture pieces and organise your closets to make room for items that don’t need to be displayed or that aren’t used regularly.
Replace your coffee table with a cluster or nest of side tables. Or use an upholstered ottoman or multifunctional piece of furniture that that can be relocated or utilised in other areas of the home. Make use of storage on walls to showcase your ceramics, books and ornamental items. There are so many creative and unique storage options on the market.
